Where Replika is the better choice
You want to see something. Replika's hero shows an illustrated companion figure
over the chat bubbles, and the whole visual identity leans on that image. Teylo shows no
avatar, for anyone, ever, by design. If a visual presence is part of what you want from
this, Replika has one.
You want a romantic option. One of Replika's four rotating homepage lines is "The
AI friend to fall in love," so romance is offered outright if that's what you're looking
for. Teylo is platonic only, and that isn't a setting you can change.
You want a longer track record. Replika says it built "the world's first AI
companion" ten years ago and rebuilt the product in 2026, and its own homepage counter
currently reads 42,160,934 users worldwide. Teylo launched more recently. There's no
long public history here yet to point to.
